DUST by Rebecca Saunders
This project centers around Rebecca Saunders‘ composition DUST, which, through its infinite sounds, provokes a profound exploration of themes such as the body, death, and transience.
The staging aims to highlight the physical presence of the music while simultaneously creating a visual and acoustic veiling through video and sound elements. Accompanying the performance is video artist Rafael Ossami Saidy, who captures intimate moments with a live camera throughout the show, drawing the audience even deeper into the journey of the piece.
The stage becomes a space of transformation, where reality is altered through various perspectives and media. The concept of „dust“ is used as a metaphor for superficiality and impermanence. Dust, composed of dead skin and mortal remains, is interpreted as a symbol of what we leave behind and our distancing from our own mortality.
Overall, this multimedia project offers a profound reflection on themes that affect us all, creating a space for discussion and contemplation on the transience of existence.
